Russian Market of Barrier Methods for Contraception for the First 9 Months of 2015

Over the first three quarters condom sales increased in rubles by 29.4%, but decreased in units by 4.5%.

According to monthly retail audit of the Russia pharmaceutical market conducted by the DSM Group company (DSM Group), in the third quarter of 2015 3,7 million of barrier contraceptives packages amounting to 547.1 rubles were sold in the pharmacies of the country. It is for 32,5% more compared to the same period of 2014 in rubles and for 2,0% - in packages.

Since the beginning of 2015 (9 months) 11.8 million of barrier contraceptives packages for $ 1.6 billion rubles were sold. For the first three quarters of 2015 pharmacies sold condoms 29.4% more in rubles and 4.5% less in packages compared with 2014. Sales growth in rubles due to mainly increase in the price per pack. The weighted average retail price per condoms pack for the first 9 months of 2015 compared to the same period in 2014 grew by 23.6% and amounted to 135 rubles.

In the ranking of sales volume in physical terms changes are more significant. Brand EROTICA has left the rating, reducing the sales in units practically in 2 times, on the contrary brand LOVE HOROSCOPES rose 6 lines above, taking the last place in the ten of the best. Brand pairs of VIVA (+14.8%) and SICO (-16,9%),  of SENSEKS(+218,9%) and MASCULAN (-65,1%) were swapped.

Three brands in ranking of sales volume in physical terms have reduced sales volumes in 2015: brands MASCULAN (-65,1%), SICO (-19,9*%) and EROS (-10,6%).
