On 2 November 2015, AstraZeneca UK Limited has filed a cassation appeal against the action of Interdistrict Office of the Federal Tax Service in Moscow.
The British company intends to take back the taxes, penalty fees and a fine, which they believe were unduly collected as was six mil of interest money. The company is also planning to challenge Federal agency’s decision № 696 as of 12/31/2013 to hold AstraZeneca accountable for committing a tax crime.
The litigation between the pharmaceutical company and the tax agency started in December 2014. AstraZeneca managed to win during the initial proceedings but the Ninth Commercial Court of Appeal ruled in favor of IFTS (Inspectorate of the Federal Tax Service) again.
